1. Introduction

Tata Steel Limited (“TSL”, “we”, “us”) is collecting and processing your personal data in connection with your registration as an architect/contractor/engineer/firm (“ACE”) on our platforms.

Uniform practices for collecting, using, disclosing, storing, retaining, disposing, accessing, transferring or otherwise processing such information assists TSL to process Personal Information fairly and appropriately, disclosing it and/or transferring it only under appropriate circumstances. This privacy notice relates to our use of any personal information we collect from you for providing related services.

2. Purpose

Your personal data will be collected and processed for the following purposes:

  • 󠁯•󠁏 Conducting your background verification checks
  • •󠁏 Hosting of your profile on the relevant TSL platform
  • •󠁏 Facilitating platform-based engagement, including interaction with customers and other stakeholders
  • •󠁏 Displaying of your profile on TSL platform
  • •󠁏 Any activities incidental or reasonably necessary to the above purposes

This notice applies to TSL India.

This Data Privacy Notice describes the information that TSL collects about you; how we use and protect this information; and the choices you can make about how we use this information.

Information we collect

To manage the activities on Aashiyana portal, TSL may collect, process or store personal data relating to you as declared by you, including but not limited to personal data such as:

TSL has implemented organizational, physical and technical safeguards designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure.

How We Use This Information

TSL may use the information that we collect in a variety of ways in providing the service and operating our business, including (but not limited to) the following:

Operations: We may use the information provided by you to operate, maintain, enhance, and provide all features of the service, to provide the services and information that you request, to respond to comments and questions and to provide support to users of the service.

Improvements: We may use the information provided by you to understand the usage trends and preferences to improve the services, and to develop new services, features and functionality.

Obtain Third Party Services: We may also share Personal Information and other information with authorized third parties, including Handy Online Solutions Private Limited / Ongrid, where applicable, for the purpose of providing background verification services to TSL. We may also share such information with other authorised third-parties for website management services, information technology and related infrastructure provision, customer service, e-mail delivery, auditing, and other similar services.

Certain third parties may also contact you directly for the purpose of fulfilling the specific services required by TSL. This includes video call by our authorized third parties for purpose of background verification (specifically for address verification).

When TSL shares Personal Information with third party service providers, we require that they use your Personal Information and Other Information only for the purpose of providing services to us and subject to terms consistent with this Notice.

Communications: We may use the email address and mobile number provided by you to communicate with you using emails, SMS, VOIP Calls, PSTN network calls and WhatsApp for: (i) for administrative purposes such as customer service, right of privacy violations or defamation issues related to personal data posted on the service or regarding any services offered by us and by third parties we work with.

Publishing on website: We may publish or display the details of your profile (such as name, photo, location, professional details, credentials or work experience) on relevant TSL platforms, websites or associated interfaces, to enable customers or other users to identify and engage with you (where applicable).

You understand that such information may be accessible also to the general public and may be viewed, copied, downloaded, indexed by search engines or otherwise used by third parties beyond TSL’s direct control.

5. Fairness and Purpose

TSL will collect adequate, relevant and necessary Personal Information, and will process such information fairly and lawfully for the purpose it is collected. The purpose of collection will be specified not later than at the time of data collection, or on each occasion of change of purpose.

6. Accuracy of information

The information held by TSL on its applications shall be checked with you from time to time to ensure that it remains up-to-date.

7. Distribution of Information

7.1 Information Disclosure

TSL does not share, sell, rent, or trade personal information collected through its applications with third parties for their sole promotional purposes or as otherwise outlined in this Privacy Notice. TSL may share information with third party service providers contracted to provide services on our behalf for processing to provide you services and benefits and other business purposes. These third party service providers may only use information we provide to them as requested and instructed by TSL.

i. TSL may disclose your Personal Information as we believe to be necessary or appropriate:

a) under applicable law, including laws outside your country of residence;

b) to comply with legal process;

c) to respond to requests from public and government authorities, including public and government authorities outside your country of residence, for national security and/or law enforcement purposes;

d) to enforce our terms and conditions; and

e) to allow us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain.

ii. Additionally, in the event of a reorganization, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any portion of our business, assets or stock (including in connection with any bankruptcy or similar proceedings), we may transfer the Personal Information we have collected to the relevant third party.

iii. We may share information with governmental agencies or other companies assisting us in fraud prevention or investigation. We may do so when:

a) permitted or required by law; or,

b) trying to protect against or prevent actual or potential fraud or unauthorized transactions; or,

c) Investigating fraud which has already taken place. The information is not provided to these companies for marketing purposes.

If TSL goes through a business transition, such as a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your personal information collected through our website(s) may be among the assets transferred. A prominent notice will appear on our website(s) after any such change in ownership or control of your personal information along with the Privacy Policy and Notice.

7.2 Cross-Border Data Transfers

When conducting business, working on internal projects, or implementing new processes or systems, an operation may require the transfer of personal information to other entities or third parties that are located outside of the TSL operation’s country of business. While permissible data transfer mechanisms are defined by applicable law or regulation, examples include:

  • a data transfer agreement with the party who will access or obtain the personal information;
  • notice to and/or approval from a country’s local data protection authority; or
  • Notice to and/or consent from the data subjects whose data is to be transferred.

8. Consent and Control

8.1 Consent

Consent is often referred to as an individual’s choice to “opt-in” or “opt-out” of the Company’s use of personal information and is usually obtained by a “check box” or signature confirming the individual understands and agrees to the processing of their personal information. At times, express written consent from the individual may be required based on the information processing activity.

8.2 Control of your information

TSL also provides individuals with the right to control their personal information, which includes the right to access, modify, erase, restrict, transmit, or object to certain uses of their information and for withdrawal of earlier given consent to the notice.

You may request to review, correct, update, suppress, or otherwise modify any of your Personal Information that you have previously provided to us through any of our applications, or object to the use or processing of such Personal Information by us. Your personally identifiable information is kept secure. Only authorized employees, business partners, clients, vendors and other third-party providers (who have agreed to keep information secure and confidential) have access to this information.

We and our partners use various technologies to collect and store information when you visit TSL’s applications, and this may include using cookies or similar technologies to identify your browser or device. We also use these technologies to collect and store information when you interact with services we offer to our partners. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, or to warn you before a cookie is placed. If you disable cookies, some parts of our websites may not function properly or at all.

11. Retention and Disposal

You have the right to access, modify, erase, restrict, transmit, or object to certain uses of your information.

We will retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as long as needed to provide relevant services or for as long as required under applicable law, contractual compliance or other legitimate requirements.     Terms & Conditions for “My Aashiyana Story Contest”

    1. Contest Period 

      • The contest “My Aashiyana Story Contest” (“Contest”) shall begin on 17.10.2025 and shall remain valid till 15.11.2025 (“Contest Period”).

    2. Who may participate in this Contest? 

      • All the following individuals may participate in this Contest – 
        • All individuals who are citizen of Indian and residing in India, and 
        •  All individuals who are above the age of 18 years. 

    3. How to participate in this Contest? 

     

    • Any individual who meets the eligibility criteria may participate in this Contest by posting a short video on their personal Instagram and/or Facebook feed/timeline following tools available on https://aashiyana.tatasteel.com/ (“Platform”):
    •  i. Budget Calculator, 
    • ii. Project Planner
    • iii. Expense Diary,
    • iv. Ideaboard
    • The length/time period of the uploaded short video mentioned hereinabove, should be minimum of 15 seconds and should not exceed 60 (sixty) seconds. 
    • The video must be posted on a public Instagram and/or Facebook account (private accounts will not be considered). 
    • All eligible individuals while posting the short video on their feeds/timelines stories of the abovementioned social media platforms, shall tag the Platform’s respective social media handle. 
    • All eligible individuals may also use the hashtag “#Aashiyana” while posting their short video on their respective feeds/timelines on above mentioned social media platforms. 
    • The short video must be posted in the manner mentioned hereinabove, within the Contest Period. 
    • After uploading the short video in the manner mentioned hereinabove, all eligible individuals must complete a Consent Form available via the link in the bio of the Platform’s Instagram and Facebook pages. The form must be filled with accurate and complete details. Additionally, participants are required to upload the same video via the link provided in the Consent Form. Submission of both the form and the video through the designated link is mandatory for valid participation. Individuals who fulfil all the above conditions within the Contest Period shall be deemed Participants for the purpose of this Contest. 

    4. Contest Prize

    Bumper Prize – 

    Only 3 (three) lucky Participants shall each receive electronic gadgets worth up to Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand Only), subject to fulfilling certain terms and conditions.   

    Super Prize 

    Only 10 (ten) lucky Participants shall each receive a mystery box, containing goods worth up to Rs. 5,000/- (Rupees Five Thousand Only). 

    Mega Prize –

    Only 20 (twenty) lucky Participants shall each receive a mystery box, containing goods worth up to Rs. 3,000/- (Rupees Three Thousand Only)

    Other Terms and Conditions 

    • The short video posted by the Participant, shall either be a real-life video of usage or experience of usage of the abovementioned tools on the Platform by the Participant or may be a screen recording of usage of the abovementioned tools on the Platform. 
    • The short video posted by the Participant for the purpose of participating in this Contest should not be an animated video and/or artificial-intelligence (AI) generated video and/or computer-generated imagery (CGI) video. 
    • Only the first short video posted by the Participants as per the terms and conditions contained herein shall be considered for the Contest.
    • The Participants, by participating in this Contest, grants the Platform the right to re-post and/or re-share their short videos posted on the social media platform for the purpose of participating in this Contest.
    • The winners of the Contest shall be decided solely by the Platform based on the quality of the short video posted. Participants agree that the decision of the Platform in determining the winner of the Contest shall be final and binding. 
    •  Winner of the Contest shall be eligible to receive only one prize, i.e., either the Bumper Prize or Super Prize or Mega Prize. 
    • A winner of the Contest may receive prizes only once under this Contest, even if multiple short videos have been uploaded during the Contest Period.
    • In case the Platform has not been tagged properly in the social media post made by the Participants containing the short vide mentioned hereinabove, the Participant shall not be eligible to participate in the Contest.
    • The Platform shall make necessary endeavours to send the prizes to the winners of the Contest within 30 (Thirty) working days from the date of expiry of the Contest Period. However, Platform reserves the right to extend such timeline and incorporate additional conditions during such extended time period without notice. Only the winners of the Contest shall be informed about the results, as per the contact details made available with the Platform. 
    • A winner of the Contest cannot assign and/or transfer and/or exchange their respective prizes and shall be responsible for compliance with all applicable laws and payment of taxes and fees associated with them, if any. 
    • The prizes cannot be changed with any other product and/or redeemed in lieu of cash. 
    • The Participants, by participating in this Contest, agrees to have given consent/permission to the Platform to contact them through call and/or SMS and/or email and/or any messaging platform such as WhatsApp for the purpose of sharing the results of the Contest, details of the prizes and/or use their contact details to send out any details of upcoming offer and/or advertising communications relating to any products marketed, distributed and/or supplied on the Platform. 
    • The Platform may publish the name and location of the Participants of the Contest and/or winners of the Contest on its social media accounts for promotional purposes. The Participants by participating in the Contest, agrees to have given consent/permission to the Platform to publish his/her name and location on Platform’s social media accounts for promotional purposes.
    • The Platform reserves the right to revoke participation of a Participant in the Contest on grounds of suspected fraudulent action/activity and/or violation of the terms and conditions contained herein. 
    • The Platform does not provide any warranty and/or guarantee regarding the prizes, which are manufactured by third parties and Participant’s use of the prize shall be governed by the respective usage terms and conditions of such third-party manufacturer. 
    • The Platform shall not be held liable for any cost, charges and claims which is suffered by the Participant due to its participation in this Contest and/or use of the prizes under any circumstances whatsoever. 
    • This Contest shall be governed, construed and interpreted in accordance with the laws of India and the courts in Kolkata shall have the exclusive jurisdiction to adjudicate any dispute arising out of these terms and conditions. 
    • By participating in this Contest, the Participant agrees to be bound by and abide by the terms & conditions and policies of the Platform. 
    • The Participant’s participation in the Contest is voluntary and by participating in the Contest, the Participant shall be deemed to have read, understood, and unconditionally accepted the terms and conditions of the Contest contained herein. 
    • In the event of any conflict or inconsistency regarding any terms and conditions contained herein with any terms and conditions contained in any other material including but not limited to advertising material, promotional material, videos, etc., relating to the Contest, the terms and conditions contained herein shall prevail.
    • Platform shall not be liable for delay or non-performance of any of its obligation under these terms and conditions in case of happening of a force majeure event which includes but is not limited to earthquake, storms, fires, floods, pandemic, epidemic, endemic, lockdowns, lockouts, strikes, any acts of god, sanctions, embargos, restrictions imposed by government, any change in laws, wars (whether declared or un-declared), insurgencies, militancy, civil commotion, civil unrest, nuclear disaster, acts of third parties, breakdown of factory, breakdown of servers, breakdown of internet connection, computer virus attack, hacking, malware and spam ware attack, etc. If the force majeure event continues for a period exceeding 30 (thirty) days, the Platform reserves the right to cancel or modify the Contest without any liability. 
    • Failure by the Platform to enforce any of its right at any stage shall not constitute a waiver of those rights by the Platform. 
    • In the event that the Contest is declared illegal under any applicable laws, order passed by a court/tribunal of competent jurisdiction, then the Platform shall not be liable to provide the prizes to any Participants. 
    • The decision of the Platform on all aspects of the Contest, including with regards to the administering of the Contest and determining the winners of the Contest shall be final and binding on the Participants.
